Some people are excited by change. I am not one of those people. I tend to feel very chaotic inside and have learned to rely on my external surroundings as a tether to reality. Routine and regularity give me the stability to function when my anxiety and sensory overload become too much to bear. When there's a substantial change to my surroundings, that routine and regularity fade, and with it goes the stability I've learned to rely on. It is incredibly overwhelming to be in a transition phase of any sort, but I try to deal with change by reminding myself that at some point that change will become the new normal, and I will adjust. I put that faith in my future self, even when things feel too chaotic to level out.
